What does brave look like for you? For me, brave looks like trying something new, like paddleboarding on a lake with women I trust will catch me if I fall in. Sometimes brave looks like rappelling down an 18-story building. There's a net and a whole team of people to catch you when you do something like that. Perhaps your brave looks like attending a women's retreat where you don't know anyone. Maybe it's simply booking the flight or being vulnerable and sharing your story or your art with others. Perhaps it means catching a stranger when she falls.
The Stronger Girl mission is founded on the concept of brave, whether brave means just getting out of bed in the morning or standing in the spotlight, delivering a performance in an off-Broadway theater in New York City. Sometimes our braves are meant for us alone, and sometimes they are better shared in community.
WHAT’S YOUR BRAVE TODAY?
P.S. In 2019 my brave looked like moving back to my hometown and opening a coffee shop with my husband of nearly 28 years. In 2020 my brave looked like running that coffee shop by myself in the midst of pandemic when he filed for divorce. I shared that brave with the whole community — not by choice, but by necessity. In 2021 my brave looked like accepting an award for Tourism Business of the Year. In 2022 my brave looked like selling that coffee shop to a non-profit that ministers to people in addiction recovery. And, in 2023 my brave looked like launching Stronger Girl Coffee and embarking on a mission to uplift women. In 2024 my brave looked like standing on an off-Broadway stage and sharing my story with a packed house in New York City.
There are days when you’re like me … laying on the floor of a coffee shop in tears … or wearing a sequins dress under the spotlight. Brave can look like a lot of different ways. Let’s share them through Stronger Girl so we can be brave together.
